The Process of becoming a child carer
SA Cares prides itself on it’s professionalism when working with potential applicants. As our most valuable resource, we insist that our child carers are of an exceptional calibre and capability. Thus, all of our potential candidates are required to complete the process of registering with us in order to be considered for placing with a family.
In addition to the minimum requirements listed below, child carers must have a positive and compassionate attitude in order to work with children. SA Cares considers child caring an avenue to fulfil one’s passion for working with children, and not merely a form of income.
Candidates must be reliable, punctual, responsible, professional and caring, and be competent in following instruction while also taking initiative when needed.

The Registration Process
The first step in becoming an SA Cares child minder is to complete our online registration form. Kindly fill this out with as much accuracy and thoroughness as possible, to provide as much insight and information as possible – such as reference contact details, copies of all qualifications and all other pertinent information.
Once we have received your application form to become a child carer, and provided you meet our minimum requirements, we will invite you to an interview with SA Cares. During the interview, we will discuss your registration form and gain a better understanding of why you would like to work with children, your previous experience as well as your educational background.
Once this is completed, we will administer a short Personality Assessment in order to ascertain your personality traits. This is of vital importance in order to place you appropriately with the right family and ensure a long lasting and enjoyable employment relationship.
Once this interview process is completed, we will contact your relevant references for confirmation of experience, personality and expertise. Once responses from references have been received, and results from the personality assessments are gathered, only then are we able to begin recommending you to our families. Once a candidate has successfully completed the screening process, the candidate is added to our database, whereafter we can begin recommending specific candidates to families.
