HOW IT STARTED
With over 10 years’ experience in the homebased child care industry, SA Cares holds a highly reputed and respected name throughout South Africa. SA Cares was the brain child of Shaun Winter, Child Psychology Honours Graduate (2007). Having worked as an au pair himself, Shaun saw the importance child carers play in the lives of our children. He endeavoured to assist South African families in finding exemplary child minders to look after your children when you are unable to. In August 2023 the business was taken over by Elise Botha, a longtime aupair who began her child caring career with Jozi Cares 10 years ago.
To this end, Jozi Cares was brought to life. As a leading provider of childcare solutions within Gauteng, Jozi Cares recognised a growing demand for childcare services throughout South Africa. As a result, we decided to expand our horizons to offer nationwide childcare solutions. So, with a little tender loving care, hard work and dedication, we have nurtured SA Cares into a compassionate and supportive children-focused solution for families from all walks of life.
As a previous au pair with experience in the home-based childcare recruitment industry, it became clear that basic screening and assessments of candidates is simply insufficient. Instead, SA Cares has gone a step further, and considers the candidate’s personality and disposition when pairing them with our families. We ensure the perfect fit between our child minders and your family. This ensures we are able to safeguard the longevity of a working relationship. Moreover, we also place importance on the stability and consistency of your family life.
In order to do this, SA Cares considers past child care experience, reference checks and personal interviews. In addition, all our childminders are asked to complete a recognized Personality Assessment. This allows us to highlight relevant character traits to allow optimal placement.

OUR GUARANTEE
SA Cares offers a guarantee period on all permanent placements (placements exceeding 6 months) provided our terms and conditions have not been breached. Our guarantee holds that, if a child minder is not beneficial to your family or circumstances within the first 3 months of employment, SA Cares will replace the candidate without any additional costs charged to the family.
